Ferrari La Ferrari

Back

Inside

It all started when Enzo Ferrari, with his love of cars and racing, left Alfa Romeo to launch his own line of vehicles. Today, Ferrari has become one of the most recognizable and powerful brands in the world.
Throughout the course of its history, Ferrari has produced  several striking models that have captivated enthusiasts everywhere.

V12 Engine

The La Ferrari is exceptional in many ways. Armed with a 6.3-  liter V-12 engine, the La Ferrari allows to hit 124 mph (200 kph) in just seven seconds.
It produces 800 horsepower but that is supplemented by a KERS electrical system which gives it an extra 163 horsepower. So, in total it has 963 horsepower and 900 Newton meters of torque. It can reach up to 9000 rpm!

Speedometer

It was also the first hybrid drive system to ever come out of the Ferrari factory. Aside from its specifications, the model continues to be talked about since it was released in a limited run with only 499 units made. 0-60 mph in 2.4 seconds and top speed of 217 mph. It is a bit of a beast! It drives the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox with launch control.

Here are some interesting things about this engine:

Battery to motor connectors

The batteries which powers the electric motor are underneath the floor. If you look in the engine compartment you will see some orange piping that's connecting the battery pack to the electrical motor and it's orange and clearly visible. So if the car is on fire, firemen can come in here and they know to disconnect those wires.

Fuel filler

On side of the car is fuel filler cap and one on the other side is for the high-performance battery which drives that KERS system. However, this is not a plug-in hybrid at all. The car actually recharges its battery under braking or when you got an overproduction of torque from the engine. When you're cornering it uses that to charge the battery and within four miles it can charge its battery to full from flat so you're good to have maximum performance.

However this car isn't perfect, Here are some annoying things about it:

Heavy bay cover

One of the problems with this engine bay cover is that it's quite heavy and it gets hot when you've been driving. So, when you go to check out your engine after you return from good driving, you lift up the engine cover. Realizing that it is quite heavy and burning your fingers, you drop it and this goes down. And smash! Now you have to pay Ferrari 16 grand for their design fault.
Secondly, the batteries add 60 kilograms of weight to the car. And it is fact that whole hybrid system weighs 143 kilograms. So it takes the total weight of the car up to 1585 kilograms despite all that carbon fiber. Maybe they'd have been better off just by using some turbos to boost the power instead of clever electrics.
Lastly, this thing can't be driven on electric power alone. So you can't get a quite experience with this car!
